PhD Colleges Scholarships in Migration


Colleges Scholarships Participants will be integrated into the ZEF Doctoral Studies Program, a structured PhD program in English (www.zef.de / doctoralprogram.html). ZEFs doctoral program is unique in Europe in terms of interdisciplinarity, internationality (students from 80 countries), and size (around 30 new PhD students each year).

Colleges Scholarships ZEF, the host institution of the RLC Campus Bonn, holds the 5th position among 10 Top Science and Technology Think Tanks across the globe. It is based in the City of Bonn in Germany - a center of international scientific development, and UN organizations.

Qualified applicants must be from a developing country or transition and actually lived there. They must hold an excellent master or equivalent degree in development studies, sociology, anthropology, political science, geography or related discipline and have excellent research expertise in the field of migration, mobility and integration. Experience in interdisciplinarity is an asset. Fluency in English is mandatory. Minimum age 32 years.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute Colleges Scholarship


The Colleges Scholarship position is research theme concerns the influence of ecosystem services - in relation to natural weather-related facilities and danger - on the value of urban real estate market. The projects provide a broader context of research related to urban resilience to natural hazards and climate change and the sustainability of cities in general.

Colleges Scholarship Candidates should be familiar with environmental and economic use of land. Affinity with urban planning, GIS, and handling large data sets would be an advantage. Willingness and skills to operate in a multi-disciplinary projects and extensive networks are important. Work in this project is expected to produce a dissertation.

Colleges Scholarship Salary will be based on levels 1-4 of the need to chart the level of teaching and research personnel in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the designated will be paid salary component based on personal performance.

School of Psychology Colleges Scholarship


The Colleges Scholarship proposed project will apply psychological theory and research to explore the area and severity of threats and violence used against and by the British-born men and women of South Asia who are in England, in the name of 'honor'. Both qualitative and quantitative techniques of data collection will be used.
The aim is to:

collects self-reported quantitative data on the frequency and severity of the threat of HRV and / or violence;
qualitative data gathered from victims and perpetrators of HRV through semi-structured interviews and focus groups.
using validated psychometric tests to reveal the risk and protective factors associated with health outcomes of education, mental and physical in response to HRV, and
conduct statistical analysis to reveal previously reported psychosocial correlates and / or predictors of HRV, as well as the dimensions that underlie specific forms of violence.


The Colleges Scholarship supervisory team will be led by Dr. Roxanne Khan (Chartered Psychologist and Chartered Scientist) and includes co-investigators from the School of Psychology, Dr. Niki Graham-Kevan and Professor John Archer.
